by both countries.

Julia Gillard told The Weekend Australian in Tokyo yesterday she was
open to exploring the idea of Japan's soldiers gaining direct experience
from their more combat-ready Australian peers - 66 years after World War II.
As reported in The Australian last year, Japan's Defence Minister
Toshimi Kitizawa is keen for Japanese troops to draw on the combat
experience that Diggers have gained in East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan.

益々増加する支那の好戦的態度や北朝鮮の脅威に対抗して
軍事的能力を高めることに意欲的である。
豪と日本は既に災害時と平和維持活動に於いて補給と相互援助協定を調印している。
両国はまた情報共有の協定を目指しているところだ。
Although Japan's post-war military is restricted to self-defence
and peacekeeping operations, Tokyo is keen to boost their combat
readiness in response to increased belligerence from China and
the growing threat of North Korea.
Australia and Japan have already signed a resupply and cross-servicing
pact that allows the forces to operate closely during disasters
or peacekeeping operations. The two sides are also eyeing a pact
to share intelligence.

is trying to reach an agreement to sell it to the United Arab Emirates.
Ms Gillard said the Fukushima accident did not provide grounds to halt
the expansion of uranium sales, but it might have snuffed out enthusiasm
for nuclear power in Australia, where even some on her own side of
politics have been agitating for its consideration to combat climate change.
