俺もそれが心配だった時期があった。
意訳のしすぎで減点されないかって。
だから、直訳しすぎず意訳しすぎずを保ってたけど
でもある程度はやっぱ意訳も必要。
たとえば

私達の会話は一晩中続いたが、結論に達することはできなかった。
を
私達は一晩中話し合ったが、〜
って訳した方が自然でしょ。これくらいならやった方がいいと思います。

っていうか、俺の高校は
現役で５割が国公立行くくらいのレベルだったけど(宮廷以上は２４０人中３０人くらい）
塾・予備校に通ってる人は７〜８割だった。
だから俺の感覚では受験生はレベルとか関係なく７〜８割の人が予備校とかに通ってるイメージがある。
