Jamaica wins gold in relay _ and a Jamaican-born sprinter helps Japan win silver
The first man across the finish line in the 4x100-meter relay was born in Jamaica.
So was the second man across the line. Here's an interesting twist to Friday night's showcase event at Olympic Stadium: Japan was helped to its silver medal by a man who was born in Jamaica. Aska Cambridge's father is Jamaican and mother is Japanese.
Cambridge ran the anchor leg for the Japanese on Friday night, but was simply no match for Jamaican closer Usain Bolt _ now a nine-time gold medalist.
"I may have Jamaican blood but I was brought up in Japan, and trained in Japan, " Cambridge said. "I am called 'Japanese Bolt' but I need to be quicker to be called that."
He said he moved to Osaka, Japan first as a 2-year-old. But he's been back to Jamaica since _ even telling Japanese media earlier this summer that he's spent time training in Kingston at Racers Track Club. And who runs for Racers? Well, among others, Bolt and fellow Jamaican star Yohan Blake.
