Look at sunk cost on wikipedia. To say it can't be saved is accurate. To be honest, unless you're in the finance industry, any English speaker will see this word and their mind will immediately go to the words "sink" or "sank", then think "oh yeah, 'sunk cost fallacy'..."

I ask because a fair amount of the slang used between normies my age (early twenties) comes from things like Vine (pre-tiktok app) or rap songs. "Yeet", "bruh", etc.
I was curious if Twitter and YouTube are able to bridge most gaps there (culturally) and what Japan's parallels are.
