1970年 「Historic Collection」の始まり
Historic Collection は、1970年代後半 より 各楽器店 / ディーラーにて、
「1959 Les Paul」に近いモデル を個別にオーダーしたのが始まりです。
・ 有名なテネシー州メンフィスの楽器店
「Strings And Things」
・ テキサス州オースティンのディーラー
「Jimmy Wallace」
・ カリフォルニア州オークランドの楽器店
「Leo's Music」
・ ニュージーランド州レッドバンクの楽器店
「Guitar Trader」
・ 日本の輸入代理店だった
「Nihon Gibson」
これらの楽器店が有名です。
そして 1984年 より「Les Paul Reissue」が発表になり、1990年には「59 Les Paul Flame Top（59 Vintage）」と言う名称で発売されておりました。

生産工場の移転
カラマズー工場が閉鎖。ナッシュビル工場へと移転します。
※ 現在もこのナッシュビル工場にて生産されています。
1991年
1991年製 の「Les Paul Reissue」
1991年製 の「Les Paul Reissue」は、元「Gibson Cusotom Shop」のプロダクトマネージャーを務めた “エドウィン・ウィルソン” と 、
日本でも有名な “トム・マーフィー” の2名によって開発されました。
このモデルは、ピックアップが「490 / 498」、ヘッド角が「17度」、
iドットは「無し」、ペグは「ナット止め」、キャビティー内は「メタルプレート有り」の仕様。
1991年 後期 〜 1992年 には、ピックアップが「57 Classic」、ペグは「クルーソンブッシュタイプ」、
iドットは「有り」、キャビティー内はまだ「メタルプレート有り」へと仕様が変更となります。

「Custom Shop」を設立

認定書 と 仕様
2002年頃 までは認定書が付属していませんでした。
2002年製 のピックアップは、前期が「57 Classic」、後期が「Burst Bucker 1/2」を使用。
最初期のピックアップのみ「ステッカー無し」の為、マジックで「1/2」とナンバリングを行っていました。
2003年
仕様変更
前期の 675本 のみ、Gloss / Aged を含め「ブラジリアンローズウッド（ハカランダ）仕様」が存在します。
※ Aged は トム・マーフィー 製作による個体。
コンデンサーを「サークルD」から「レプリカバンブルビー」へと変更。
「Burst Bucker 1/2」の本格的な搭載が行われます。
※ 2002年 のスペックより搭載。
2000年 〜 2003年 頃までの「1959 Les Paul」には、「Plain Top」の個体が存在します。
また 2003年頃 から A4サイズの認定書が付属します。
※ 紙の認定証。
2004年
「Custom Authentic」を発売

取扱の移行
「山野楽器」から「Gibson Japan」へと取扱の移行を開始。
またこの年は、「アニリンダイフィニッシュ」が終了します。
2006年
「Gibson Japan」が始動。

「Vintage Original Spec（V.O.S）」を発表。
※ 「Custom Authentic」からの流れ。
この年より、現在の認定書に変更します。
2009年
「50th Anniversary」を発表
2009年 〜 2010年 にかけて、「50th Anniversary」を発表。
初期ロットのみ、ゴールドの認定書が付属します。
また「ピックガードマイナスネジ」、「トラスロッドカバー位置」、「ペグ配列」、
「ABR-1 リテナー 無し」、「ナットベルデン」、「ネックシェイプ変更」など、
従来よりもスッキリとした仕様に変更します。

洪水による影響
この年は、ネックシェイプが 2009年 よりも少し細く変化します。
また、洪水の影響により、Gibson ファクトリー の生産が一時ストップします。
「Custom Shop」に関しても被害が大きく、「Tak DC Korina Natural / Gold Top」などモデルに影響が出ます。
その為、限定数よりも少ない生産となります。
2011年
大きな変更点はありません。
2012年
シリアル桁の増加
ディーラーからのオーダー数が非常に多く、シリアルが「9 2****（5桁）」へと増加します。
2013年
「Collector’s Choice」発表
「Collector’s Choice」を発表。
またこの年も、オーダー数が非常に多く、シリアルを「9 3****（5桁）」にて生産します。
「カスタムバッカー採用」、「ロングスタッド」、「ペグ / グリーンキー」「ナイロンナット」、
2005年で終了した「アニリンダイフィニッシュ」の再開など、仕様変更が行われます。

さらなる仕様変更
例年に続き、オーダー数が非常に多く、シリアルを「9 4****（5桁）」にて生産します。
「アニリンダイフィニッシュ」「ハイドグルーネック / 指板のジョイント接着（にかわ）」「チューブレストラスロッド」へと仕様を変更。
「チューブレストラスロッド」については、2013年 よりも太く、「ハーフムーンワッシャー」も大きくなります。
2015年
新たなモデルの登場
「Historic Collectio」が終了。そしてこの年は、新たなモデルが登場します。
True Historic
パーツを一新しよりビンテージに近づけたモデル。ボディトップの削り込みを2度行うことにより、ビンテージライクなアーチを再現。
ボディバックマホガニーのネックジョイントとボディエンドの厚みを変えることにより、重心が変わりバランスが改善。
「Historic Collection」に比べ、ボディ外周も約3mm小さくなり、ネックとボディのマッチングを行うことで、アニリンダイフィニッシュの褪色差を解消。
今までのパーツの使用を止め、新たに「True Historic Parts」を開発し、「Custom Bucker Pick Up」を標準搭載。
Historic Select
「True Historic」を基本したモデル。
ディーラーにて トップ材 の選定が可能。
シリアルの頭に「HS」が付与されている。
Custom Core
「50s Style Les Paul」、「Les Paul Custom」など、「Les Paul Custom」がメインとなるモデル。
シリアルの頭に「CS」が付与されている。
Historic Standard
廃止になった「Historic Collection」の後継モデル。
パーツなどは、旧「Historic Collection」と同様。
シリアルの頭に「R」が付与されている。
