a half-baked plot some Republicans floated as a last chance to keep Trump in the
White House.
State GOP lawmakers in Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin have all said
they would not intervene in the selection of electors, who ultimately cast the
votes that secure a candidate’s victory. Such a move would violate state law and
a vote of the people, several noted.
The idea loosely involves GOP-controlled legislatures dismissing Biden’s popular
vote wins in their states and opting to select Trump electors. While the endgame
was unclear, it appeared to hinge on the expectation that a conservative-leaning
Supreme Court would settle any dispute over the move.
Still, it has been promoted by Trump allies, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis,
and is an example of misleading information and false claims fueling skepticism
among Trump supporters about the integrity of the vote.

that delegate this power to voters and appoint electors for whichever candidate
wins the state on Election Day. The only opportunity for a state legislature to

actual election “fails.”

they can provide remedies as well,” he said.

によると、大統領は「2024年の次期大統領選に再び立候補しようと思う」と語っており、
「バイデン氏の勝利を覆すことは不可能である」ことを十分認識しているようだという。
トランプ氏が法廷闘争の矛を収め、真剣に次期大統領選への出馬を考慮しているのか、そ
れとも負けたことが信じられずに錯乱状態にあるのかは分からない。だが、はっきりして
いるのは、トランプ氏のこうした発言は次期大統領選に向けて隠忍自重してきたペンス副
大統領にとっては困惑以外の何物でもない。自分のことしか頭にないトランプ氏はペンス

トランプ氏、進退決断近づく バイデン氏が選挙人大差―米大統領選

民主党候補としては２８年ぶりに南部ジョージア州を制したバイデン氏の選挙人は３０６
となり、過半数の２７０を大幅に上回った。トランプ氏が勝利するには、バイデン氏に奪
われた選挙人１０〜２０人を擁する５激戦州のうち３州で法廷闘争に勝たなくてはならな
い計算だ。
トランプ氏は１３日、敗北確定後初めて公の場で肉声を発したが、質問を受けず、選挙結
果にも触れなかった。
米メディアによると、トランプ氏がペンシルベニア州で起こした訴訟は１３日、陣営の弁
護団が裁判から手を引くと表明。アリゾナ州でトランプ氏の票の一部が無効になったと申
し立てた訴訟も、最終的に約１万の票差がついたことで「結果は変わらない」ことを認め、
取り下げた。
またバー司法長官が選挙不正を調べるよう指示していた１６人の連邦検事は１３日、バー
氏への書簡で「実質的な不正の証拠はない」と結論づけた。
法廷闘争が展望を欠く中、トランプ氏が２０２４年大統領選出馬に向け布石を打ち始めた
という見方も浮上。ある周辺はニューヨーク・タイムズ紙に対し「トランプ氏自身、もう
終わったことを理解している」と語り、ホワイトハウスを去った後に自身の支持者の熱気
をどう維持するかを気に掛けていると明かす。

で開票結果が確定していけば判断を迫られる。2024年次回大統領選出馬を含め、影響力保
持へ最も効果的な幕引きを狙っている可能性もある。

total of 9,300 mail-in ballots Friday. The judges noted the "vast disruption" and
"unprecedented challenges" facing the nation during the COVID-19 pandemic as they
upheld the extension.
